Last Thursday, Marcy Newell, Buhl, bought a $5 Black Diamond Cashword Scratch Game from the Twin Stop on Blue Lakes in Twin Falls just before heading to work. During her break, she scratched the ticket and could not believe her eyes. She believed she had won $1000 on the game by uncovering 9 words. She counted them again, just to be certain.
On Tuesday, Newell arrived at Idaho Lottery offices in Boise to claim her prize. When told her ticket was actually a $50,000 winner, her knees buckled “What?” was all she could ask as she stared in disbelief.
Tears welled in her eyes as the realization set in that her winning ticket was worth fifty times what she thought she had won when she arrived.
“It’s going to savings,” said Newell on her plans for the winnings.
For their part in selling the winning ticket, Twin Stops receives a $5,000 bonus.
